Fine silver particles are suspended in a binder. The malleable substance is formed into the desired design, then fired in a kiln. During the firing process, the binders are burned off, leaving a pure, fine silver piece. These pieces will not tarnish because there is no copper content as in sterling silver. Certain stones can be added before firing. Others must be added after, if they can not withstand the firing process. Fired pieces are burnished and antiqued if desired.
These leaves are made by the tedious process of creating a slip, then painting up to 20 layers on the back of real leaves. After drying, the leaf is fired. The real leaf burns off, leaving a beautiful representation of the real thing. Gems can be added to these pendants to personalize. They can be antiqued or left pure, fine silver. Preserve a bridal-bouquet memory in pure silver! $255 with three birthstones.
